How to Make a Right Choice?

Those people who manage to choose a prosperous and satisfying career are lucky. But, most young people are not quick in making a right decision because they do not have enough life experience.

First, estimate your own abilities and talents. Most likely, your favourite subjects at school or your hobbies will build up a strong basis for your future professional field.

Secondly, it is good to ask for advice from working professionals and visiting them at work. Try to visit different places, compare what you see, analyse if it your cup of tea or not. Moreover, parents and teachers are always ready to help, ask them.

Finally, look inside yourself. See how ambitious you are, what kind of character and temper you have, what your tempo of life is. Your future job should be corresponding to your nature.

Выбор карьеры является трудной и стимулирующей задачей: решение, однажды принятое, будет влиять на Вашу будущую жизнь. Есть, конечно, много примеров, когда люди изменили свои пути карьеры в их двадцатых, тридцатые и даже сороковые, но, конечно, лучше сделать правильный выбор в самом начале. Чем ранее Вы выбираете, какая профессия интересна и полезна для Вас, тем больше Вы можете достигнуть во время своей целой жизни.

Выбор карьеры является стимулирующей задачей действительно. Это - все об обнаружении прекрасного состязания между Вашей индивидуальностью, интересами, и навыками. С одной стороны, современное общество, с его сотнями профессий и рабочих мест, представляет обширный диапазон будущих вакансий. Промышленность и бизнес, сельское хозяйство, наука и образование, медицина, обслуживание, искусства и журналистика - только несколько профессиональных областей, на которых может специализироваться молодой человек. С другой стороны, современное общество с его кризисами, безработицей и инфляцией, делает плохой выбор профессии действительно плохой ошибкой. Вы можете выбрать профессию Вы действительно как, и оказаться перед проблемами, ища работу. Или Вы можете найти работу, которую Вы любите, но этому недоплатят. Кроме того, у родителей молодого человека обычно есть свои собственные идеи какой путь карьеры выбрать. Некоторые родители более демократичны и позволяют ребенку определять свое будущее один. Некоторые являются репрессивными и защитными и пытаются вынудить ребенка сделать это или тот выбор карьеры. Sooner or later each of us needs to choose a career. The biggest mistake in this activity is to make a decision without planning your future and thinking about your personality. Your career must feet you. In other case you would never gain success in profession that was chosen.

To do it right way you need to think about your wants and needs. Also you must take into account your character and temperament. No one can know your good and bad habits as well as you do.

It works quite simple. If you don’t like to talk with unknown people then don’t choose career that needs it like sociologist, insurance agent, and reporter. If you don’t like working with children then don’t try to be teacher or kindergartener. If you are absent-minded it would be better if you do not work on atomic power plant.

To realize what will fit you best of all you need to answer some questions. And answers must be honest. At first you need to decide what you expect from life. If you want to have a big house, car and great deposit account then low-paid jobs is not what you are looking for. From the other side there are people who like their life without luxuries and expensive purchases. You also need to think about other characteristics of your life. For example, would you like to stay in your town for life long or to move across the country? At second you need to think about properties of your future career. That is what we were talking above. Your job must conform your personality.

As for me, I have decided to become a financial analyst. My personal capabilities and my education showed me that I was on the right way. Now I work in a bank as a chef of financial department. No doubt, I made right decision about my career.

Раньше или позже, но каждому из нас приходится выбирать профессию. Самая большая ошибка при этом – принимать решение без планирования своего будущего и мыслей о личности. Ваша деятельность должна подходить вам. В противном случае вы никогда сможете достичь успеха в выбранной профессии.

Чтобы сделать это (выбор) правильно, нужно подумать о своих желаниях и потребностях. Также нужно принять в расчет ваш характер и темперамент. Никто не знает ваши плохие и хорошие привычки лучше, чем вы сами.

Это работает довольно просто. Если вы не любите говорить с незнакомыми людьми – не выбирайте профессии вроде социолога, страхового агента или репортера. Если вам не нравится работать с детьми – не пытайтесь стать учителем или воспитателем в детском саду. Если вы рассеянный, будет лучше, если вы не будете работать на атомной электростанции.

Для того чтобы понять, что подойдет вам лучше всего, нужно ответить на несколько вопросов. И ответы должны быть честными. Во-первых, вам нужно решить, что вы ждете от жизни. Если вы хотите иметь большой дом, машину и огромный депозит на счету, тогда низкооплачиваемая работа не то, что вы ищите. С другой стороны, есть люди, которые любят их жизнь без излишеств и дорогих покупок. Вам нужно также подумать о других характеристиках вашей жизни. Например, хотели бы вы оставаться в родном городе на всю жизнь или перемещаться по стране. Во-вторых, вам нужно подумать о характеристиках будущей карьеры. Это то, о чем мы говорили выше. Работа должна подходить личности.

Что касается меня, то я решил стать финансовым аналитиком. Мои личные способности и мое образование показали мне, что я на правильном пути. Сейчас я работаю в банке руководителем финансового департамента. Вне всяких сомнений, я сделал правильное решение относительно своей карьеры.

Choosing a Career
Finishing school means the independent life for millions of school-leavers. Many roads are open before them: technical schools, colleges and universities. But it is not an easy thing to choose a profession out of thousands! Some pupils follow their parents" advice; others can not make any decision after leaving school.
In childhood I wanted to be a spaceman; then I dreamed of becoming a policeman. Only a few years ago I started thinking about my future career seriously. Life is quite difficult, but I want to have an interesting job and would like it to be connected with different countries and people. That is why I decided to become an interpreter. I am good at foreign languages. My favourite language is English. I like watching films and reading books in the original.
I think the questions- young people should ask themselves are: What am I interested in? and What do I want to be? When they find the answers, they will have the goal to achieve. If you are good at a particular subject and you want your profession to be connected with it, it is important that you study it seriously.
My father wants me to follow in his footsteps and become a physicist. But I am not interested in medicine and I am not good at Chemistry or Biology. As they say, medicine is "not my cup of tea".
Another problem is entering a university. Russian National Exam which school-leavers have to pass at the end of the 11th form is rather difficult, so you have to study really hard to get a necessary number of exam points to enter a university. Moreover, different universities have different number of "acceptance points". I have some friends who did not get enough points to enter the universities they wanted, so they had to choose other places to study or pay for their education.
However, some young people do not know which career to choose even after they "finish school, so they have to waste time deciding, or start working. For young men the situation is difficult because they may be taken to the Army that is why a lot of them enter any institute or university just not to become soldiers.
Sometimes young people choose a career to their liking, they enter a university and after some time they realise that the occupation they chose is not what they really want, so they get poor marks and have to leave the university.
The problem of choosing a career is very widespread among young people and they should think about their future seriously before making any decisions.

Choosing a career is like any other activity: it is best to work to a plan. Too many people start looking for a specific job before thinking out their occupational aims. It is a good idea to begin by attempting to define in clear terms what your requirements are from a career. This involves taking a realistic view of your strengths and weaknesses. You may think for example, that you would like a job which involves organizing people, but liking such a job is not a sufficient justification if experience you already have may suggests that this is not your strong point. On the other hand, you should remember that training will equip you to do new things.

A further point to consider is how far you will be willing to do for a time things which you do not like knowing that they are necessary to achieve your longer term objectives. Having thought carefully about the sort of person you are, try to work out a realistic set of occupational requirements. In particular, you can answer to important questions. First: What sort of life do you want to lead? For example, do you want to live in the country or in the town? Is leisure time of great importance to you? Is the size of your salary important? Do you want to put down roots or travel widely? Second: What sort of work do you want to do? For example, do you like working alone or with others? Does teaching people appeal to you? Do you want to be an organizer of other people’s activities? Do you want to develop new ideas and initiate changes?

As for me, I have made up my mind to be an engineer. As my parents are engineers, they have made a great influence on my choice and I can say that this profession runs the family. My choice of this occupation didn’t come as a sudden flash. I think that nowadays this profession is of great need and importance to our country. It is my aim to be a qualified specialist and to serve the interests of my country. To be a well prepared engineer I should have some important qualities: great capability persistence, knowledge of science and of course knowledge of foreign languages. In spite of these arguments we mustn’t forget about everybody’s vacation. I think that my facilities combined with the knowledge would be quiet enough to succeed in my work.
